What I carry with me?
Secrets. Peppermints. The smell of rain.

What I remember?
Specks of ash on a warm baked egg.

What I know?
How many songs till bedtime.

What I forget?
The exact color of my grandmother’s eyes.

What I left behind?
Light on the river the morning you were born.

What I learned yesterday?
How to dance a jig barefoot, with bunions.

Where I’m going tomorrow?
With you, to a meadow of daffodils blooming like days.
