Outside Womb

By Estelle Lipp

The coach carriage was your portable universe.
You sat on the throne of your diapers
wrapped up like a present in your snowsuit
with only your sweet face showing.
Warm in the blankets you were swaddled in,
we strolled out into the world
and, for a while,
I kept the wind off your back.
