Poetry | June 2005

Son of a Bitch

By garrie keyman

he slipped away
as smoothly
as he had slipped from my womb
when he had shot out
slick and flailing
small fists
cocked defiantly
at a world into
which he had
reluctantly
come

they never told me
to stop pushing
so by fourteen
he was completely
out of sight
