Poetry | October 2008

Lulled By

By Suzanne Edison

Rock a bye baby, cradle broke
and down came baby bunting
hunting for daddy when the ring
turned to glass. Laid
me down to sleep, prayed
my soul would not keep
hush, little baby, would not run
away moon or bless that
God who takes and takes.
