Nursing Barbie

By Katherine Suzanne Harris

Leaning forward
on her diapered seat
the baby grabs the Barbie
with frayed hair and

undresses her,
jerkily, like pulling
the wrapper
from a candy bar.

Tossing the dress on the floor,
she tips her head, evaluating
the plastic molded body,
then opens her baby mouth,

ready to nurse,
placing
the firm plastic breast
between
her working ready
lips.
