Literary Reflections, Writing Prompts | March 2011

Writing Prompt: One Book at a Time

By Karna Converse

In this month’s essay, Diana Renn describes the library she’s building for her son and the criteria for each book she selects: “Ideally Gabriel’s library will reflect a balance of older and modern classics, male and female writers, and authors of various races and ethnicities and nationalities. The selection priority will always answer this question: what book most speaks to the person my son is becoming?”

Consider your child’s past year and a specific trait you watched emerge. What book or character brings a similar storyline to your mind?
