I Had a Boy
This poem is based on ethnographic research conducted by the poet in India.
Into layers of my makeup, I whisper a girl is Shiva drinking ocean poison and yet surviving as neelkanth, blue-throated so, I had your brother and dissolved you with a pill dark blue running down the inside of my thighs

Oh my, this is such a powerful poem in so few words. Splendid in sorrow.
Thank you so much, Sandra! One of the purposes of a peon, in my opinion, is to pack a punch with efficiency. You’re so right!
Manisha
Powerful words.
Very strong poem, Manisha.
Hauntingly sad and beautifully stated, Manisha.
