Poetry | July/August 2021

aerie

By Luciana Francis

you curl up outside of me,
as if coiled in a nest.

feet pressed against my skin
where scalpel left a contrail.

the moon puts a blanket
over your sleepy realm.

across the ceiling an aviary of stars,
fluttering like birdwings —

in place of the cord, a small hand
tucked under my arm.
