Buccinare

By Susan Gillis

secret one who almost materialized
what would you be now

astronaut physicist weaver swimmer
or mystery like your unknown almost father

hold on little cygnet on my back
feathers closed over you

the candle I keep blowing out
the dandelion seedheads the bubbles

how the muscles of my cheeks ache
