Sun setting behind hills

Solis

By Jessica Hanke

The sunset rides my shoulder as
I glide the bend, light bouncing
off my glasses frames into the
dance of ray and refraction
down we go, their voices up
into the jubilant spring air
squeezed into the bike trailer
windblown grins, glorious
we set behind this slope
luminous, in this moment
the earth circles us
maybe what Icarus
really wanted
was love
