Calls for Submissions Round-Up: June

On the first Wednesday of each month, Literary Mama shares a complete list of all current calls for submissions, sorted by deadline.  Throughout the month we share new calls for submissions via Facebook and Twitter, so if you want to be kept in the loop, make sure to find us one place and/or the other!

*Ilk Journal is accepting poetry submissions for their second “All Women All the Time” issue. Hybrid forms are appreciated and experimentation encouraged, but poetry of any description will be considered.  Click here for details. Deadline: June 15, 2013

Chicken Soup for the Soul is seeking submissions for a number of upcoming potential books. Topics include: Think Positive for Kids, The Dating Game, Miracles, and Multi-Tasking Moms. Click here for more information, deadlines and additional topics.

*Send your Haiku to Mars on the MAVEN spacecraft! A fun idea and a great way to encourage kids to write poetry.  Click here for details. Deadline: July 1, 2013.

Hip Mama is seeking submissions for its “Handicapable”-themed issue.  Click here for details and guidelines. Deadline: July 1, 2013

Balaustine is a forthcoming anthology on the topic of “wanting family.”  Submission categories include poetry, short stories and essays about wanting children, being unable to have children, miscarriage and loss, infertility, adoption, and other ‘alternative’ families. *The Voices Project, an online literary venue for women to promote social change, is taking submissions of poetry and short prose (250 words or less). Please include a short bio (160 words or less) with your submission. Anonymous submissions and multiple submissions welcome, no more than 5. Women and girls of any age or education level are encouraged to submit. Submit through the website OR via email (info (at) thevoicesproject (dot) org). DOC, DOCX, PDF, or TXT attachments are OK. Or, cut and paste your poem or prose into the email. Deadline: July 5th, 2013

*Wising Up Press is seeking submissions for two anthologies: Lasting Friendships Across Deep Divides; and Love Before: Love After.  Click here for details and guidelines. Deadlines: July 15 and August 15, 2013

*Familius is accepting submissions for an anthology of stories about lessons learned from teenagers.  If you are a parent of a teen or have a story of a lesson learned when you were that age, click here for details. Deadline: July 31, 2013

Tracy Alverson is accepting submissions for a new anthology entitled “Homespun Mommas.”  She is looking for stories from radical mommas who have intentionally decided to live a more back-to-nature, simple life.  Whether you make everything from scratch, spin your own wool, or homeschool she wants to hear from you. *Rebellion Press is seeking submissions on the Janis Martin Experience for an upcoming blended authorized biography and anthology featuring the historical, late and great Female Elvis. Seeking short (up to 1,000 word) nonfiction encounters with the late performer, creative prose/poetry/fiction of the musical experience with her work and fanfare that would be suitable for a book. *The Mom Egg is seeking submissions of poetry, fiction, nonfiction and art for its twelfth annual issue. They are looking for traditional or experimental work by mothers or about motherhood. Click here for details and submission guidelines. Deadline: September 1, 2013

*The Talking Writing Prize is an annual contest that celebrates the diversity of online, personally driven writing. For 2013 there are two prize categories: flash fiction on any subject, and creative nonfiction about family life and the meaning of family. Click here for more information and submission guidelines. (Note: there is a $15 entry fee.) Deadline: October 1, 2013

The Fourth River announces a 2014 themed issue on Women and Nature.  They are looking for poetry and creative nonfiction (especially prose poetry and lyric essays), written by women and inspired by the natural world or addressing environmental concerns.
