A Book That Shaped Me

By Blog Editor

Do you have a 5th or 6th grader who loves to read? Do you live in the mid-Atlantic region of the US? Then your kid might like to enter the “A Book That Shaped Me” Summer Writing Contest sponsored by the Library of Congress.

The Contest encourages rising 5th & 6th graders to reflect on a book that has made a personal impact on their lives. The contest is administered through local public library systems in the Mid-Atlantic region, and top winners are honored at the Library of Congress.

To enter, children should submit their essay in-person by Monday, August 11, 2014 to a participating public library in the Mid-Atlantic region, along with a completed contest entry form containing a parent or guardian’s signature.

Find the entry form and more details at Library of Congress. State Finalists, State Winners, and Grand Prize Winners will be honored during a ceremony at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC on October 18, 2014.
