Motherhood and Words Workshop
Motherhood & Words Online
January 27 – April 4, 2016 (10 1/2 weeks)
Whether you are a new mom or a veteran, whether you gave birth to or adopted your child, in this online class you’ll learn how to take birth and motherhood stories and turn them into art. Weekly lectures, reading assignments and writing exercises will focus on telling details, character development, emotional distance, strengthening your reflective voice, and revision. (Kate’s Use Your Words will be the primary text for the class.) You will receive feedback from your peers and Kate on what emerges from weekly writing exercises. You can expect to begin work on 5 – 10 creative nonfiction pieces, and you will have an opportunity to expand one of these into a longer piece on which Kate will provide feedback. She will also provide feedback on a revision of that same piece at the end of class. This class is open to writers of all ability levels! Join this amazing community of mother writers.
