Literary Mama is an all-volunteer organization that brings mothers together through literature.
We are currently seeking to fill two Senior Level positions with collegial, committed, and energetic women. Please note: These are volunteer positions. All work is conducted remotely, via internet. Strong communication skills are required. We are particularly interested in hearing from mamas from historically underrepresented populations, including but not limited to, those who are Black, Indigenous, POC, and LGBTQ+.

Managing Editor
The Managing Editor will work with the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief to set editorial direction and format, and supervise and coordinate staff and departments.
The Editor will:
–Ensure editorial standards and publishing schedules are met
–Enforce editorial standards as outlined by LM Style Guide and the Chicago Manual of Style
-Help develop and manage a team of editors who are around the world
-Keep manuals and contracts up to date
-And more
The Editor must:
-Have strong communication skills
-Be able to manage and motivate via cyberspace
-Be organized, detail- and deadline-oriented
-Have a working knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style
-Be proficient in WordPress; cloud-sharing programs such as Google Drive and Dropbox; and phone and video conferencing tools such as Skype, Zoom, and Google Hangouts
-Understand social media such as Facebook, Twitter, GoodReads
-Be a self-starter who is eager to explore, initiate, and implement new ideas
Publisher
The Publisher will work with the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor to set the overall tone and direction of the journal, focusing on the outward image and long term vision and strategy.
The Publisher will:
–Build links with other related organizations (for financial, literary, or publicity purposes)
-Work with the Social Media Editor to keep track of stats (views, users etc.) and analytics and build engagement with readers
-Assist in hiring and training of new staff

The Publisher must:
-Have strong communication skills
-Be proficient in WordPress; cloud-sharing programs such as Google Drive and Dropbox; and phone and video conferencing tools such as Skype, Zoom, and Google Hangouts
-Understand social media such as Facebook, Twitter, GoodReads
-Be a self-starter who is eager to explore, initiate, and implement new ideas
-Be able to work independently yet maintain affiliation with a team who meets and completes projects via cyberspace
-Have experience as a magazine editor
