Observe. Listen. There is value in every writer’s words, seasoned or novice. There aren’t stupid questions so ask them. Knowledge equals growth. Act on the afforded understanding, follow the path, and seize the opportunities even if they differ from your vision. Be humble. Accept all work offered because it leads to more opportunities. Write at least five days per week, even if you’re the only mom at soccer practice with her laptop. Switch between projects to alleviate boredom. Join a writing group and honor feedback. If more than two people have similar input about an issue, address it. Good luck.

Holly Rizzuto Palker is an award-winning writer who covers a wide range of topics, though her passion lies in parenting and family relationships. She’s writing a novel and a book, Raising Pizza Bagels: One Interfaith Family’s Recipe for Success. She speaks at conferences and events about writing and interfaith parenting.
