Jennifer Cognard-Black
Jennifer Cognard-Black teaches women’s literature, feminist literary theory, and fiction writing at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a public honors college. A Fulbright Scholar and a member of the Ms. Magazine Committee of Scholars, she has published two books on nineteenth-century novels and letters by women; a writing textbook; and is the co-editor of two collections, including an anthology of the literatures of food, Books that Cook: The Making of a Literary Meal and a forthcoming book of essays on women and their machines, From Curlers to Chainsaws. Under the pseudonym J. Annie MacLeod, her short fiction has appeared in a number of journals, including So To Speak, Literary Mama, and The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, among others. Cognard-Black lives fastened to a shore in Southern Maryland with her spouse and daughter Kate, a fellow foodie. Jennifer is a former reviews editor for Literary Mama.
