We’re happy to announce that Literary Mama is now an official 501(c)3 non-profit organization! For 16 years, our goal has been to create a place for mother writers to publish their work. With this new status, we can expand that goal and do even more for the literary community. We believe that the art of writing is essential to our society, and we want to begin to pay our writers and editors. Among other possibilities, raising funds will allow us to cover the basic operating expenses of the journal (web hosting, etc.), while also looking forward to redesigning our website and making it mobile-friendly.
Literary Mama is and has always been an all-volunteer operation, and our 25 editors put in their time and energy because they feel passionate about what we are creating. Our journal is dedicated to publishing work in conventional genres of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry, but we’re more than a conventional literary journal. We’re a community whose goal is to capture the complex elements of motherhood. From submission to publication and beyond, we support our writers every step of the way, with constructive revision feedback, social media promotion, and celebration of every success.
If you’ve found inspiration for your own writing or recognized your own motherhood experience here, consider a donation. If you’ve met a new author to love, discovered a favorite among our book reviews, or found a home for your own writing here, please help us ensure a sustainable future for Literary Mama.
We are currently set up to receive donations through PayPal, and you have the option to give any amount.
Literary Mama is an exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Your donations are tax deductible.
Thank you for your support of the Literary Mama community!
