Poetry | February 2011

regular

By Melissa DeGezelle

you probably won’t find it disgusting
i let my kid watch public television
rear privilege even if i can’t afford it
still sport linea nigra
i ate my placenta out of the coffee grinder
scraped the crampbark jar
big ending ____big hollow

the way little moons
were fingernailed
when shirts will always be shorter
and ribcages wider

drink my milks drink my milks
find yellow teeth in jeans
put them back for potential
or some ordinary sideshow.
