Poetry | March 2012

Pregnant

By Heather Angier

           the acacia is singing
trumpeting
bloom

and little Ruby’s in heat–
         sniffed out and humped
     in the pod heavy
shade

           then, there is
this wild moon
                        fat yellow
and balmy

listen,

I’ll say to him,
changing.
