Laura Roberts, Blog Editor, won first place and honorable mention in the West Virginia Writers’ Competition for her essays in the nonfiction category, and second place in the Pearl S. Buck Award for Writing for Social Change category. She also began a regular nature column, Valley Views & Varmints, for a local news and blogging platform in her home in West Virginia.

Senior Editor and Literary Reflections Editor Libby Maxey’s poem “lusus naturae” appeared in the summer issue of IthacaLit, and five more poems were featured on Peacock Journal’s site in June. Her reviews of Bluewords Greening by Christine Stewart-Nuñez and Show Her a Flower, a Bird, a Shadow by Peg Alford Pursell recently appeared online at the Mom Egg Review, and her review of Ordinary Magic by Alison Stone was included in the Spring 2017 issue of Solstice.

Blog Editor Rudri Bhatt Patel’s essays, “Can States Protect Us From Being Trumped?” and “Trump Has Broken Every Presidential Norm. But Has He Done Anything Illegal?” appeared in DAME Magazine. Her food essay, “How to Order Like a Gujarati” was published in The Phoenix New Times. Raising Arizona Kids featured her piece, “Back-to-school physicals: What parents need to know” in July.
