Community News – Literary Taxidermy Writing Competition

We at Literary Mama are excited to share The Literary Taxidermy Writing Competition, which runs May 1 – July 11.
The Literary Taxidermy Writing Competition provides your opening and closing lines chosen from a classic work of literature. You provide the rest. This year, writers will create stories and poems inspired by the words of Agatha Christie, Langston Hughes, A. A. Milne, and Edgar Allan Poe. In previous years, participants have crafted stories and poems in every genre, from science fiction to meta-fiction, and from sonnets to free verse.
The author of a winning story or poem will receive USD $500 and publication in a forthcoming 2022 Anthology of Literary Taxidermy. In addition, the competition offers personal feedback for all honorable mentions. The competition is also a fundraiser for Ukraine. Sarah Waits, one of the competition editors, says, “We’re a small organization, but we believe we can make a difference in the world.”
