Literary Mama: Revision and Reimagining
Writing and motherhood have commonalities. Both involve a birthing—of ideas or babies. At times, both demand more from us than what we feel we have the supply to give; we spend long nights, early mornings, and weary afternoons managing them.
They require us to adapt and grow in every way imaginable. We revise our previous ways of thinking and reimagine new ways, whether that concerns plot points for a novel-in-progress or how we discipline our children as they develop.
As a community centered around writing and motherhood, Literary Mama has spent the past year revising and reimagining itself. This time of reflection was necessary after the milestone of reaching our 20th anniversary in 2023. Much like a mother who has sent her child off to college, we needed time to consider our past and envision our future. Our hiatus was an opportunity for Literary Mama to consider our needs, the challenges of being an all-volunteer staff, and the continued desire to offer literary mamas a venue for publishing their work.
We are now back and eager to accept new submissions. Please be sure to review our submission guidelines before sending in your best work.
