Some highlights from the new issue

We hope you’ve checked out the March/April 2026 issue of Literary Mama, but if you haven’t, I thought I would whet your reading appetite by sharing some of the pieces that spoke to me.

While I am not a quilter, I am the daughter of one so Alison Colwell’s The Patchwork Quilt: Piecing an Identity Together” was especially appealing. She weaves historical information about quilting into her story of relationship and mothering touchstones in her life. It is a wonderful testament to how important creativity is in a woman’s life. 

Another piece that stood out to me is What is Brave, a poem by Krista Puttler. As a mom to two teens and a young adult, I found this poem especially poignant. Mothers spend so much time waiting to see how their kids are going to handle life, but eventually we get signs that they are going to be ok, that they see the world with clear eyes and compassion.
