Mary Akers
Mary Akers’ work has appeared in Mississippi Review online, Bellevue Literary Review, The Fiddlehead, Brevity, and other journals. She has published a short story collection, WOMEN UP ON BLOCKS with Press 53, and a co-authored nonfiction book ONE LIFE TO GIVE with The Experiment. She has essays in the anthologies THE MATERNAL IS POLITICAL: WOMEN WRITERS AT THE INTERSECTION OF MOTHERHOOD AND SOCIAL CHANGE and also HOME OF THE BRAVE: STORIES IN UNIFORM. She has three children (two of whom will be voting this year) and currently lives in western New York.
