Zsófia Czakó

Zsófia Czakó was born in 1987 in Győr, Hungary. Her novels include Nagypénteken nem illik kertészkedni / It is Not Proper to Garden on Good Friday (Scolar, Budapest, 2018), a collection of 19 linked stories, and Szívhang / Heartsound (Scolar, Budapest, 2022). It Is Not Proper to Garden on Good Friday was shortlisted for the 2020 Margó Prize for best debut fiction and is now in its third printing. Translated excerpts from the book have appeared in print and online. “Small Town Pensioners” was published in Hermine Annual, Issue No. 3 (2023), and “Spinach Lasagna” appeared in The Autoethnographer (2023).
