Karen Richards is a writer living in Northern California with her husband and teenagers, two dogs and seven chickens. She writes memoir, creative nonfiction, poetry, and fiction. During the year of lockdown, she wrote a memoir, You Are Here, about her journey as the mother of a son with mental health challenges and her family’s experience sheltering in place during the pandemic. Her storytelling focuses on weaving intimate, layered narratives about family life, creativity and motherhood. Recently, she joined Z-Cares Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting youth mental health, as an Executive Board Member and Director of Communications.
