While at AWP (read more about my experience here and senior editor Rudri Patel’s takeaways here), I met the creators of two groups all Literary Mamas should know about.
Pen Parentis provides critical resources to working writers to keep them on track after starting a family. They provide Writing Fellowships for parents with children under the age of 10 (I sadly went to apply and realize that I had just aged out of this opportunity! My youngest turns ten in August!), Accountability Groups for members, and online Literary Salons. Follow them on Twitter here and Facebook here.
Scribente Maternum offers virtual workshops and in-person writing retreats for all writers who identify as mothers. They are holding an online workshop called “Unlock Your Self-Publishing Success,” this weekend, on April 22. Their next in-person retreat is in Seaview, Washington October 19-22. Or buy some of their “Write Like a Mother” gear. Stay up-to-date with them via Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.
We hope these organizations can help supporting your writing!
